The heavy rains began on January 17th and flooded Jakarta as well as the surrounding cities. The disaster also occurred in the communities where WorldHarvest had visited and helped in the past. In response, we sent relief efforts to help the victims in the following communities: Cilincing, Kampung Sawah, Muara Baru, Bekasi Timur, Cengkareng Timur, Kapuk Pedongkelan, Cawang – Bidara cina, Kampung Melayu, Ciledug, Tiga Raksa, and Jatinegara. Our team delivered massive amounts of food and beverages directly to the victims. Some of the victims even included our SAC children and their family members.
In Cengkareng, Cawang, Bekasi, Tiga Raksa, and Ciledug, we distributed 950 kg of rice, 85 boxes of Indomie instant noodles, and 850 boxes of ready-to-eat dishes.
In the other communities, we delivered packages of relief that contained crackers, bottled water, milk, rice, instant noodles, and blankets. Those communities are as followed:
- Cilincing – 100 packages
- Kampung Sawah – 225 packages
- Muara Baru – 150 packages
- Bekasi Timur – 330 packages
- Cengkareng Timur – 200 packages
- Kapuk Pedongkelan – 100 packages
- Cawang – 120 packages
- Kampung Melayu – 45 packages
- Tiga raksa – 80 packages
- Ciledug – 250 packages
Total food relief – 1600 boxes
The flood is gone, but it left hundreds of families in a financial disaster. It also created a public health emergency for the affected communities. WorldHarvest is currently helping them regain their lives back. Thank you for supporting this project and taking part in another one of our disaster relief efforts!
