Harvest Community Development
Harvest Community Development (HCD) is a humanitarian effort of World Harvest that serves to reach the communities through recovery, relief, and empowerment programs. HCD focuses on utilizing holistic community transformational strategies in the integration of its programs. HCD is also an effort that is involved in changing community behavior (attitudes, knowledge, skills etc.), to enable community members to engage and participate effectively in programs pertaining to community transformation and development.
VISION:
Building self-supporting communities through three main programs.
PROGRAM I: SPONSOR-A-CHILD PROGRAM
The Sponsor-A-Child program is the cornerstone of Harvest Community Development. The objective of SAC is to engage a community through reaching out to needy children with tuition and financial assistance, in order to provide the child with a quality education, nutritious lunch programs, health delivery, and voluntary access to the good-news. PROGRAM II: COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION CENTERS (CTC’s)
Accelerating Community Transformation
In the process of ensuring that all three facets of recovery, relief, and empowerment are facilitated for the long-run, World Harvest employs Community Transformation Centers. The purpose for the CTC is to ensure that an entire community’s standard of living is raised: holistically. By placing long-term Community Development Agents (CDAs) to manage the centers, World Harvest ensures that the strategic objectives for any given target community are not neglected. PROGRAM III: HARVEST HUMANITARIAN SERVICES
Harvest Humanitarian Services provides emergency assistance through food, medicine, health services, and temporary shelter for disaster victims, refugees, and extremely impoverished communities. World Harvest along with multiple partnerships and affiliations has touched millions of lives through emergency food relief projects, and countless more have received medical and physical assistance through Harvest Humanitarian Services.
