Global poverty reduction as of 2007 still remains an immense challenge. For instance, of the 234 million people in Indonesia (the world’s fourth largest country), 53% of the population still lives on less than $2 (US Dollars) per day, and constantly remain vulnerable to falling back into severe poverty (World Bank, Country Assistance Strategy FY 2004-2007). World Harvest aims its work toward creating sustainable community transformation programs in countries like Indonesia, through its community development programs. Our goal is to build self-supporting communities. We are aware that it will take years (with a lot of challenges to be incurred), in order to transform underprivileged communities toward effective self-sufficiency; however, to ensure that community transformation progresses, World Harvest (WH) has committed to community transformational development under strategic seven-year transformational concepts. This does not necessarily mean that the transformation process will be achieved and completed in exactly a seven year period, but that we will use the seven year timeframe to organize and enable us to maximize our efforts. We work toward achieving our goals through three segmented and strategic phases: Relief, Recovery, and Empowerment.
World Harvest believes that a community touched by the love of God will be transformed in all areas of life: spirit, soul, and body.
For these reasons World Harvest serves communities through the Harvest Community Development (HCD), and the Focus on the Family Indonesia (Fokus Pada Keluarga—FPK) programs:

Harvest Community Development (HCD)
has been entrusted by a number of governments around the world to develop more than a thousand poor communities comprising of tens of millions of people.
We ensure that the three segmented and strategic phases toward relief, recovery, and empowerment are sustained through three anchor programs under HCD.
